Description
Whilst the title of Townes Van Zandt's final LP for Poppy Records in 1972 refers to his commercial invisibility and brief 'death' from an overdose, it is considered by critics and fans alike to be the finest album the Texas troubadour ever recorded. Containing the classics 'Pancho And Lefty' (a US no.1 when covered by Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard) 'If I Needed You' (covered by Emmylou Harris, Don Williams & others) and 'No Lonesome Tune' the album is “an effortless masterclass in emotionally effecting Americana” (Record Collector).
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the beginning of Van Zandt's turbulent musical career, Charly has restored and remastered the album with four exclusive bonus tracks on CD, a strictly limited audiophile pressing on white vinyl in replica gatefold sleeve, complete lyrics plus a 20-page illustrated booklet with revealing sleeve notes by producer and manager Kevin Eggers.
