And Lovepedal's Zendrive has been the go to 'Dumble in a box' pedal, albeit also still at quite a price - for an overdrive pedal. Until now, anyway. With Tai Chi we can now hear what an asian pedal builder can bring to this whole zen thing, within reach of us mere mortals.

Yeah, so… a not too much ying, not too much yang kind of thing.

At lower gain Tai Chi is smooth, slightly more compressed than JOYO's sibling R-series Tauren, and rich in harmonics.

Punching the gain increases sustain, edging onto warm distortion tone, full and rich. 

"Voice" is harder to pin down - it controls the upper limit of total amount of gain and bass frequency response.

With Tai Chi, Joyo is yet again making hitherto unaffordable tone accessible to regular players. Which is going to do a lot for your state of mind.

As with other R series pedals, Tai Chi sports cool ambient lighting on to help it stand out it the dark.
