This is a modded Squire Jaguar I've had built by a luthier in Nelson. I bought it 'in bits' and had it built and improved. The neck is a squire and really lovely to play. The body is battered, or has character, depending on your view! The Jag is set up like Jonny Marr's and is not a typical Jag set up with all the controls for a rhythm and lead setting. Instead this has a 4 way switch for bridge, neck, series and parallel both pickups. I've had the cavity painted with shielding paint and replaced the pickups with brand new Fender Jaguar 65 pickups. The bridge is a mustang bridge, which is an improvement on the Jag bridge, but is still the weak link on the guitar. There is a bit of string buzz as the strings rest on the edge of the bridge.
Intonation is great and it has a lovely feel. The tone of the guitar isnt as bright and jangly as I was expecting and I prefer my tele and strat over the Jag, so, inspired by Marie Kondo, it doesnt 'bring me joy' so maybe someone else will like it. If I was to keep it I'd replace the bridge and install a treble bleed fix on the tone pots, and maybe change the tuners to lockable. I hope the price reflects its not perfect but has a decent neck and pickups and is somewhat improved from a basic squire. I will consider a swap for a guitar of simlar value such as a squire tele, jazzmaster, Epiphone 335 or Les Paul. Ideally a straight swap and each party pays their courier would be ideal. I.e. no money needs to change hands! Let me know any questions. I'd also swap for a Line 6 HX FX unit.
