Looks like a partially completed restoration project. Could be a wall hanger or could be something nice.

Has been repaired previously. Peg holes have been sleeved and fitted with new pegs.

Was discovered with a very nice French bow which has since been moved on.

Do you have a friend in Chch that could pick it up and sort postage for you? I’m so flat out busy and it would be a huge pain to take this in to get quotes for postage. Hi there, I've posted violins through trade me previously and they do a door pickup service which is pretty cool. You just have to wrap it up measure it and book the pickup. Added closer photos of the cracks. Right side f hole cracks appear/feel repaired. Left side possibly an unrepaired crack. Internal cleats on back plate indicate previous repair(s). Base bar possibly replaced or feathered. Sound post in place. anzac3343 (198) • Thursday, 27 November 2025
