Description
This one is the top knife (A) in the photo.
I can't remember the number of times I have been asked to source a really good Bosun's knife. Well eventually I did.
This little beauty comes in 420 surgical grade stainless steel and is designed for the boatie and anyone who is using rope and shackles etc. What better gift can you give?
Blade: 2.5" (5.5cm) long and a blunt tip (to stop it breaking off).
Spike: 2.5" (5.5cm) for rope splicing and shackle opening etc.
Shackle spanner: 2" (5cm) long for shackle pin opening.
Can and bottle opener
There is a lanyard ring AND a flat screwdriver end.
Weight: 13.3 grams
All encased in a sturdy stainless case/handle. As is the case with pocket knives there is no locking mechanism but the blades are spring loaded.
What makes these knives superb is the steel used. Many kitchen knives are made with inferior grades of stainless steel. "Stainless" is a large group of steel alloys - many entirely unsuitable for blade use.
Grade 420 is capable of attaining good hardness, sharpness and wear resistance . Its high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics along with superior heat treatment. Of course this is also more expensive - you get what you pay for.
For the kayaker, boatie, climber, boy/girl scout, rigger, yauchtie, camper - in fact all outdoor pursuits.
Please my other knife listings - I have something for everyone.
