Description
This is a quality art print of the great Jim Clark racing his 2.5 Litre Lotus 32B Coventry Climax FPF at Levin during the 1965 Tasman Series.
For the 1965 Tasman Series Colin Chapman followed Bruce McLaren’s lead from the previous year and prepared a special car for Jim Clark. But instead of a lighter and slimmer F1 derivative like the 1963 Cooper T70 Chapman took the Lotus 32 F2 car, normally powered by a 1litre Ford 105E based Cosworth engine, beefed it up and fitted a 2.5L Coventry Climax FPF engine. While the car with its camel like hump for an engine cover looked a little ungainly, in Jim Clark’s hands, even after an unfortunate DNF at the NZIGP at Pukekohe, it proved the perfect weapon and with wins at Levin, Wigram, Teretonga and Warwick Farm, second at Sandown Park and fifth at Longford, Clark took the 1965 Tasman Championship title as a precursor to his second World Championship title later in 1965.
Meanwhile the Lotus 32B stayed in New Zealand having been bought by Jim Palmer who used it to win the 1965 NZ Gold Star Championship and finish 4th in the 1966 Tasman Series.
This print is one of a limited edition of 75 printed on heavy art paper suitable for framing and the low resolution photo does not do the finished print justice.
Each print is individually signed & numbered by myself.
Standard print size is A3 but prints are available on request from A4 to A1 (price on application)
