Description
The Wake Tech Flight 69 is the first wakeboard to hit the market with a fin on each side of the board and the second board to be a twin tip. Jimmy Redmon knowing the capabilities of a directional board can only go so far, came up with the shape being inspired by symmetrical snowboards. The Flight 69 was introduced at the 1994 Nationals, arriving in the mail for "Gator" (Erik Lutgert) at the last minute. Gator never rode the board before and ended up winning. Later that year at Worlds, Scott Byerly won 1st and Gator 2nd in Pro Freestyle and Gator 1st and Byerly 3rd in Pro Expression Session. Andrea Gaytan also made 1st in Women’s Freestyle. After Worlds the 69 was indisputably the go to board. The majority of companies soon followed the twin tip movement to keep up with the fast progression of wakeboarding. The original Flight 69 was available in the 1995 Wake Tech lineup. #WHF
