Circa. 1868-1912 Meiji Period Japanese Red Lacquer Box with Cranes on Branches.
Made using a traditional Japanese lacquerware technique called urushi.
The design uses maki-e, a technique where gold or silver powder is sprinkled onto the wet lacquer to create the intricate decoration.
Please review the photos as to the overall condition. There are bumps, bruises, & chips to the lacquer consummate with the age of the piece.
The box has no key and is circa. 30cm wide, 21cm deep, and 9.5cm tall.
