Rare and highly collectable Victorian Pounamu pendant/fob. During the gold rush in Dunedin during the 1860's miners would also find stunning pieces of greenstone as they panned for gold in the clutha river. This piece is circa 1900 and is still attached to it's original solid 9ct gold chain that is 55 cm long or 22 inches.

The Malta cross is highly symbolic and originated in the 15th century in Malta. The 8 points of the cross represent.

Many of the armed forces use this in their insignia. Especially the Canterbury and Otago regiments.

This piece was sourced from an estate auction and has a generous 9ct gold mount hand engraved with a 9ct gold O ring. The greenstone is a wonderful dark green. The pendant/fob is 23mm long and 23mm wide at the bottom. The original chain is permanent and tests as 9ct. The back of the fob is hallmarked 9ct. This is in exceptional condition for a piece that is over 125 years old. The gold weight for the chain is 2grams and the total weight of the piece is 6.82 grams.
