Description
I bought this because it was an amazing rare, Flintlock ‘saddle ring carbine’ (SRC) and because it’s an early and interesting, Cavalry weapon. The saddle rings all had a clip or toggle, to make it easier to reload on the gallop on horseback without dropping the weapon. So that’s about 100 yrs older than other common, SRCs, like the WINCHESTER 1866, Yellowboy SRC. Or the ‘73…I collect them too! These carbine length Flintlocks, are far rarer than those Infantry, with their longer, India pattern Brown Bess muskets, and so cost more in UK. Condition is as you can see. In UK, they keep muskets, ‘in the white’, so that means bright metal like this. Keep it, as is, or change the barrel tone… Unmarked lock, as it should be. From a very small batch. Only one in NZ ? Probably. I Bought it on impulse, to fill in the crate beside my main gun…. A big Flintlock 5 bore, P1738 Rampart gun. So I had a long, expensive crate. I’m sure, long term, flintlocks are the best guns to collect, as all the World is changing towards older guns. No risks for Muzzle loaders, of future Buy Backs like we will see AGAIN, in Aussie soon. Since Ukraine, there’s no sea shipping available. So this is my last shipment. I’ve bought in 14 countries now. Been FUN ! Other photos for your interest only. Shipped for $120 by ARAMEX, or come visit in CHB, and see some nice old Guns ! Lex Also… Snider, Colt Revolver, Sword, Flintlock, Percussion.
