Description
Today we are pleased to bring, for your consideration, a small by statuette by Arnaldo Giannelli, of an elder oriental man holding a Koi – a member of the Amur Carp family. The statuette is made of a bonded marble – a mix of marble dust, alabaster granules and a polymer resin. This process allows cold casting of the statuettes in a mould but also improves the longevity of the product over natural marble in terms of wear and water resistance. Arnaldo Giannelli was born in 1907 and later trained at the Royal School of Art. He opened his own studio ‘Egrigia di A Giannelli S.r.l’ in 1944. Throughout his career he earned many accolades for his work and in 1970 he was awarded the title of “Cavliere della Republica” – the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. The factory remains in the control and ownership pf the family, with their products being sought after throughout the world. The statuette stands just 5 3/8” (136mm) tall on a natural marble base 5/16” (8mm) deep and with a diameter of 1 5/8” (42mm). No evidence of damage seen.
As photographs form an important part of the description, happy to provide additional images if requested. Please also take the time to check out our eclectic range of items being offered.
