Old wooden pencil case with a Maori Tiki Head and stylized Maori foliage (koru) on the lid, which swings out. Wooden boxes such as these were used by children both at home and taken to school before the introduction of plastic pencil cases. Box is in very good condition except for very slight damage to one edge of the affixed part of the lid (see circled area in photo). Name (very faint) inscribed on the bottom. Pencils just for show.
