Offered for sale is one of Elizabeth Stevens largest works and in my opinion one of the best examples of her “abstract” work of the 1960’s This oil on board measures 126.5cm x 81 cm framed. It is in its original frame and is inscribed on the rear as per attached photos. Elizabeth’s art is well documented and held in many collections throughout New Zealand and overseas. Elizabeth is quoted as describing her work as “ between abstraction and almost realism” she sees abstraction as formalising “the essence of subject or a theme - to find order in Chaos” This painting looks amazing in both a modern setting / environment and a more traditional decor.
