About the Matakokiri Programme:
Matakokiri is a Tui Ora youth service programme that through a te ao Maori lens, helps taiohi build foundations for a life where they are well in themselves and have a sense of self and belonging.
Over this 8-week programme, a group of taiohi have been working through the four pou of Te Whare Tapa Wha to benefit their hauora.
One part of the programme involved the taiohi creating original art pieces to sell at auction, with the proceeds being donated to the New Plymouth Food Bank.
This part of the programme has been designed as a way the taiohi can have an avenue to express themselves, and use their skills to give back to the community.
The pieces they’ve created are available to be purchased through this listing only. All sale proceeds from the taiohi mahi toi collection will be donated to the New Plymouth Food Bank at their graduation on 1 April 2026.
