Description
Food is one of the first of the great pleasures that we experience and the last to leave us. This book is about a particular group of New Zealand food producers for whom the taste experience is significant - orchardists and growers. This book was a labour of love to record the hard work and commitment put in by generations of growers despite back breaking labour, ever-changing rules by politicians, and the normal ebb and flow of demand. Families worked together and supported their neighbours, and as the land use changed with the urban spawl of Auckland- so did they. Ample photographs, personal stories, some history and tales of families- a great combination for all New Zealanders to be aware of. All proceeds from this book go to the Huapai-Kumeu Lions- who distribute all funds through their community service programmes. See our other listing for a small number of fruit posters, once they are gone they will not be reprinted. We love books- our next locally famous Book Fair is Sat 23 and Sun 24 May at the Kumeu Community Centre.
