Frank Herbert's Dune was originally serialized in Analog magazine in two main parts—"Dune World" (1963–1964) and "The Prophet of Dune" (1965)—before being published as a novel in 1965. Edited by John W. Campbell, these issues featured iconic, award-winning illustrations by John Schoenherr.

Publication Timeline: "Dune World" ran from Dec 1963 to Feb 1964, and "The Prophet of Dune" ran from Jan 1965 to May 1965.

The serialization was crucial in the publication history of the novel, which later won the inaugural Nebula Award in 1965 and shared the Hugo Award in 1966
