Very Rare 1910 First Edition Poultry Book. The Wyandottes; J.H Drevenstedt

The Wyandottes; J.H Drevenstedt, Editor. Jointly Published 1910 by the Reliable Poultry Journal Publishing Company and American Poultry Publishing Company.

An original first edition copy for a discerning collector of poultry literature. This particular book is very rare as an original production.

Originally produced with soft paper wrapper covers, this copy has survived 116 years as it was bound in cloth covered (hardcover) boards for library use. One very discreet library stamp mark as photographed. Printed on an early kind of slightly glossy magazine paper and running to 160 pages. Three full page colour plates (as photographed) and each protected with accompanying tissue paper page. Illustrated throughout with many black and white photographs, line drawings and other artworks. This is a collective effort by many authors contributing articles relating to Wyandotte Poultry and their breeding to standard or management in general.

Measuring: 29cm x 22.5cm

CONDITION: For a 116 year old book printed on magazine paper I would consider this a better than 'Fair' grade copy. The binding has no issues as to integrity. The red cloth covered boards are faded, bumped and worn as would be expected. The gold lettering on the spine is fully intact but a little faded. Two of the three tissue paper (plate print) protection pages have tears but are otherwise intact. Several pages have small tears on the bottom edge due to page turning, with the longest of these measuring 3cm. A few (but discreet) neat pencilled notations in the margins. No missing pages from the text, no loose pages and several professionally repaired small tears. Yellowing, toning and typical paper aging marks throughout. All in all a very attractive copy with the vast majority of pages in good condition. A seldom available rare first edition.
