Description

Noddy Book One. Possible first edition (but see below). Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Dust Jacket. Beek (illustrator). Size: 19x14 cm. 60 pages. Cover slightly bumped and rubbed, spine faded, and slight damage to top and bottom of spine, cover corners. No inscriptions. Page edging with some foxing, marks, very few pages have any marks. No writing or drawing on pages as with some children's books. Contains images of Golliwogs, and Golliwog Town, which some may find offensive. Phoenix Books NZ recently sold a copy of this in bad shape for $65.00. This book was first published in 1949. Undated, but web search says "indicative publication year is given by "SBN" rather than "ISBN". Sampson, Low, Marston & Co Ltd given as printer thus likely to be prior to 1950 when Purnell bought the company." However, a used book trader has told me that "the plain coloured titles on Noddy books were mid 1970s, so it is likely this book is too" (c.miles). Sent after payment clears. NZPO charges more for rural, &/or signed delivery.
