We have dressed up a small quantity of beautiful black maire boards 1800 x 100 x 47mm for sale. This is the highest quality native hardwood I have seen in years. Clean grain, steaky brown in colour with excellent working properties. There is some quarter sawn grain, but it is the flat sawn timber that displays the characteristic black maire look for handcrafted taiaha. We have only ten lengths up to 1800mm long. Therefore cannot courier, too long and heavy. Excellent weapon timber, most useful for fine carving. Could be utilised in instrument making as well. Auction is for one x 1800 mm length...
