Description
This is a unique camera body. I love it and happy to keep it, but will pass it on to fund other photography purchases if someone out there will appreciate what makes it special. Despite it's age it's still the top of the line rangefinder-style micro four thirds camera in many ways -- and has never had a true successor. It's got a tough magnesium alloy body, designed to last. It's the first GX camera with the higher resolution 20mp sensor, but unlike the newer GX9, the GX8 is the only one that is weathersealed. It's also the only one with a really nice, very large viewfinder, and a deep, comfortable hand grip, giving it great ergonomics. The weathersealing, amazing viewfinder and comfortable grip (to support larger lenses) put this in a category of it's own, even better than the legendary Olympus PEN F in many respects.
This camera has a shutter count of just over 20k -- with lots of life left. Everything functions perfectly, but there are a few cosmetic flaws to mention, as seen in the images:
- There is a faint hairline crack in the screen. This does not affect the functioning of the screen in any way, but is a bit more visible at certain angles. I'm so used to it, I don't even notice it.
- There is some rubbing of the silver colour from the top corners of the camera where it gets the most wear. Purely cosmetic, does not affect function at all.
This auction includes:
- GX8 camera body
- 2 genuine Panasonic batteries
- battery charger, USB cable, original neck strap
- box and original manuals, software, etc.
