For sale is a classic Japanese-built Technics SL-B202 turntable….

The deck features a 304mm aluminium alloy diecast platter, electronic speed switching and the platter is driven by a full cycle detection FG servo system with DC motor.

This is not a cheap plastic turntable, like those available today, as the body of the SL-B202 is made from TNRC which is Technics’ non-resonant compound, and is overlaid with real timber veneer.

All operations are by touch buttons located on the front panel. Even cueing can be performed with the dust cover closed. It has pitch control and the speed can really be dialled in via the strobe light….and like all good turntables it also has an adjustable counterweight and anti-skate control.

The static balanced tonearm features a detachable headshell and the drive system specs out at 0.045% wow and flutter, which is excellent stats, even by today’s standards.

One of the best features of this turntable is that it has an auto-return function, which if lazy like me, is a god send. When the needle reaches the end of the record, the tonearm will automatically lift, return to its stand and the machine will shut off . No more chance of ruining your stylus by forgetting to turn off the turntable!

It comes with a matching Technics U25 cartridge/stylus, and the original user manual.
