This is a "10 Watt" High Power LED, you choose from…

• Warm White; or
• Cool White

This LED is constructed from 9 die in a 3s3p (3 parallel strings of 3 series die) arrangement to give a forward voltage at max current around 10 to 11v.

The recommended current is about 900mA.

These LEDs have been personally tested by me and all die are lit and roughly equal brightness at 20mA or less current, however if you will be running the LEDs at very low current you might want to see my A+ Grade led listings which are tested at 1mA or less (but more expensive and not always available).

STOP! High power LEDs must be current limited or driven with a constant current supply and must be attached to a fairly substantial heatsink. Do not simply attach to a "10v" (or even higher) supply, your LED would be most likely destroyed instantly.

The simplest current limiting for 12v “car battery” is a 5.6 Ohm 5W resistor in series.

All high power LEDs produce a LOT of heat. Do not even think about running it without a heatsink at full power for more than a second.

Passive cooling will require a fairly large heatsink. I typically look for a rise-above-ambient of no more than 45 degrees measured at the LED tabs when stabilised, of course, the colder you can run them, the more reliable and longer-lived they will be.

A typical old Pentium-4 style heatsink can just-get-away with passively cooling a 10W led attached with heatsink tape in most climates.

Smaller heatsinks can be used if you actively cool them (heatsink with fan).
