Auction is for an Early sleek Rattan back Sofa/Daybed designed by Fred Lowen in 1961 as part of the "Narvik" range. Made in Australia by FLER furniture or in New Zealand by Broadhead Bros under license in the 1960s. This is a beautiful early example with the wide flared concord arms and a low Rattan rear backrest, that looks amazing from all angles.

The Frame on this particular example is extremely nice. It was completely dismantled, joints cleaned and re-glued with Titebond 3 ultimate wood glue. The old cloudy finish was removed and refinished with three coats of quality Danish oil.  It has never suffered any of the typical shoddy repairs with screws and bolts where they don't belong, dog chews, inappropriate glues etc and is as nice as you could hope to find.

The upholstery is tolerable (as found) and it can be used as is but this beautiful mid century gem deserves to reupholstered. The lower foam needs to be replaced the upper foam has been replaced at some stage. I have provided a couple of pre visualisations to give you an idea of how this sofa would look with some decent upholstery, see pics # 1 & 5
