Jovellana violacea or violet teacup is an unusual rarity from Chile with colorful sprays of flowers. Flowers appear by the hundreds throughout spring. The fingernail-sized blooms are light-violet with festive markings of purple, yellow and red, with no two flowers having the same pattern.

Plants are 15-20 cm tall, branched and bushy. Plants are potted in 9 cm pots.

Jovellana is an upright, perennial bush that grows about 1.2 metres tall,and about 80-100 cm wide. Each flower spray has 1 to 2 dozen blooms, and they completely cover the plant in spring. This is a cool-climate species..
