Cos Romaine, named after Parris Island in South Carolina. Sow in Spring, Summer & Autumn.
It is a fast-growing multi-purpose lettuce. Popular for salads (including Caesar salad from 1865!)
It is excellent for baby leaves or as full size heads. Baby leaves grow & size up quickly for salad mixes while the upright, uniform grey-green heads have large, slightly curled (savoyed or wrinkled) leaves with smooth edges. It has a tight 20 tall, cone head which is self folding with a white heart inside. Also, this lettuce is medium-slow to bolt.
Recommended family supply amount: 10 lettuces grown per person for a continuous supply of salad from Spring time through summer. Sow seeds every week or every few weeks to suit you & or your family!
Sow direct or start in seed trays to transplant seedlings out in 4 to 6 weeks. Grow all year long depending on your region:

- To reduce the risk of disease; do not overhead water
- Protect from slugs and snails. Keep well watered
