Auction is for a vintage Tabla. A percussion instrument used in Hindustani classical music and other musical traditions of the Indian subcontinent.
- The head is made of goat skin and feature a distinctive black paste called syahi in the center. This paste is made from a mixture of iron powder, flour, and other ingredients, and it helps to create the instrument's unique pitched sound.
- The tension of the drumheads is adjusted using leather straps and wooden blocks called gatta. These are used to tune the instrument.
- Tabla players are also known as percussionists or tablists.
