Pair of Mature Blood Parrot Cichlids – Established Pair

Selling my two mature Blood Parrot Cichlids together as a pair.

They are approximately 8 years old and have been together for many years. They are healthy, active and feeding well, with fantastic bright orange/red colouring.

The larger, dominant male is approximately 15 cm long and is a solid, mature fish. I’ve deliberately avoided overfeeding them over the years, as I didn’t want them growing excessively large.

They are real characters in the tank: cheeky, interactive, curious and definitely not shy. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed having them and they add a lot of personality to an aquarium.

They are an established pair and have shown spawning/breeding behaviour over the years, although they have never produced viable fry.

They have lived successfully in my mixed cichlid aquarium. My tank is reasonably aggressive, and despite Blood Parrots not being the strongest swimmers, these two have held their own very well, likely helped by their size and established position in the tank.

As with any mature cichlids, the buyer needs to carefully consider the aquarium and tankmates they are being introduced to. Compatibility can never be guaranteed, so please do your own research and make sure you have a suitably sized, established tank.

I would strongly prefer that the pair stay together.

Selling only because I am downsizing my aquarium setup.

Collection / transport: Pickup from Tawa, Wellington is strongly preferred. Buyer will need to bring suitable containers for safe transport.

I also travel by vehicle between Wellington and Auckland, so depending on timing and location, I may be able to bring the fish north and arrange collection or drop-off at a suitable point.

This would be by prior arrangement only and only where it fits reasonably with my travel plans. I would expect a contribution towards transport costs and suitable packing for the fish.
