Vintage Cranberry Murano-Style Art Glass Ashtray / Catchall

Beautiful substantial vintage art glass ashtray / decorative catchall in a rich cranberry red, with thick clear glass detailing and a sculptural folded rim.

The piece has the heavy, hand-formed construction and layered colour treatment strongly associated with mid-century Murano art glass. I believe it may be Italian/Murano based on the style and construction, however there is no surviving label or signature, so I am not claiming a confirmed Murano attribution.

The glass has excellent depth and movement, particularly under light, with textured detailing through the base and a wonderfully solid feel.

Width: 15 cm Height: 6 cm Weight: 0.564 kg

Condition: Very good overall. There is a tiny nick/flea bite on the underside of the base, shown in the close-up photo. It is extremely minor and not noticeable when displayed. Otherwise the piece presents beautifully.

Could be used as an ashtray, catchall, jewellery dish or simply displayed as a piece of vintage art glass.

I also travel by vehicle between Wellington and Auckland, so Auckland collection or drop-off may potentially be possible by arrangement and with a contribution towards transport costs.
