Fabulous pottery vase by Joan Bruneau, Nova Scotia. This piece is in mint condition and signed by the artist. 31.5cms high and 10cms at widest point. Joan shares her passion for experiencing beauty in daily life through her work. Using Nova Scotia earthenware clay, she hand- crafts fine pottery informed by ceramics history, natural phenomena and ornament. Her sensuous shapes and surfaces invite contemplation and inspire use. In 1995, Joan began her teaching career at NSCAD University and established her Lunenburg studio/storefront, Nova Terra Cotta Pottery, operating until 2022. Joan continues to produce limited edition and one of a kind pieces and teaches workshops. She earned her BFA from NSCAD in 1988 and an MFA from the University of Minnesota in 1993.

In 2009 She received the Established Artist Recognition Award from the Nova Scotia Arts and Culture Partnership. In 2005 the Winifred Shantz Award funded her tenure at La Meridiana Ceramics Residency in Italy. Her work appears in exhibitions across Canada and the U.S. and is in public collections including the AGNS, Canada; Sykes Gallery, USA; and Jingdezhen Ceramics Institute, China.
