Patricia Cornwell is a great crime writer and her books are really great reading. (I reckon!) In Post Mortem - the first book in the series, Dr Kay Scarpetta, Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia is woken in the early morning to hear that there is now a fourth victim - women are being murdered in their own bedrooms by a serial killer. There appears to be no identifiable pattern except that the killer always strikes on Saturday mornings. Kay must come up with the forensic evidence to assist the police but not everyone is happy to see a woman in this powerful job.
