Golding led the field across the finish line by just 0.96 seconds ahead of Matthew Payne and Garth Tander, having seized the lead on the final lap in a thrilling late-race duel. A five-second time penalty for an earlier move while "having a crack" at the lead in a thrilling battle with Cooper Murray racing the #99 Chicko Camaro saw the duo officially classified third - but that didn't take away from a standout performance in a race that will rank among one of the best ever at the mountain.

While the outright win narrowly slipped away, the result was still one to remember - the first Bathurst 1000 podium for both Golding and PremiAir Racing, and the third for the experienced Russell.
