Unveiled at the 1991 Frankfurt Motor Show as an update for the already popular 3.6L version of the E34 M5, the facelift version pushed displacement up to 3.8L and remains the last of the handbuilt M cars with significantly lower production numbers than the E39 M5 or iconic E30 M3.
