Most older ink pens will have a rubber ink sac that if left with ink in for any length of time - 5 + years - will harden and perish - rendering the pen unusable. The pen feed - under the nib - also becomes clogged with hardened ink and so there is limited or no ink flow. These "broken" pens are repairable and can be refurbished back to working writing instruments. Considering most of these pens will not be being manufactured any more refurbishment prolongs their useful life and make them a vintage and heritage heirloom for the younger generation. A reminder of what a joy it is to actually write not type. I refurbish pens for $25 a pen - stripping, ultrasonic cleaning, polishing, re-assembly, new sac, talcum, polishing, testing, adjustment and tracked return postage. It is a hobby far more than a business. I have numerous spares should basic parts be required. Happy to review photos before being sent a pen or offer advise as to potential worth. I have used various fountain pens for far too long and just prefer the feel and texture they give.

trishchris (229 Friday, 23 January 2026 )Brilliant service from Charles. He repaired my mother’s 90 year old pen and also another vintage pen. His communication, service and turn around time are all brilliant. Thank you so much.
trebor21 (113 Monday, 12 January 2026 )I had had a long running problem with a leaking Cross Fountain Pen and contact with the local agents and The manufacturer did not solve the problem, other than to suggest a local pen repair expert. By chance I found the Te Awamutu Pen Restoration Service listing in Trademe and everything improved thereafter. It would be hard to find anyone more helpful than Charles and it was a pleasure to have his willing and prompt assistance. I now have a fully functioning set of pens and pencils.
