Similar in colour and appearance to European oak. The sapwood of American white oak is light coloured and the heartwood is light to medium brown. White oak is mostly straight grained with a medium to coarse texture, with longer rays than red oak.

Premium Character contains a healthy selection of natural knots. These boards tend to have more colour variation than Prime, the contrast of more varied grain patterns and more of the natural Oak features, making it our most popular of wood flooring grades.

The surface of rough sawn timber is typically uneven and textured, with visible saw marks from the cutting process.
