Brendan Hall

I'm originally from Australia, and over the years my career has taken me through a number of industries in Australia, China, the US and now Aotearoa.

I started out as a lawyer (reformed, these days) before eventually moving into leadership roles at Amazon Australia, Carsales and BP. One of my most interesting chapters was running China operations for Shoes of Prey - one of Blackbird VC's earliest portfolio companies - where we built a manufacturing facility and supply chain from the ground up.

As Head of Motors at Trade Me, I'm lucky to work with hugely talented people on a lot of interesting problems. The favourite part of my job is talking to our customers about how we can do more to help them. A car is one of the biggest purchases most Kiwi will ever make, and a marketplace like ours has customers on every side of that transaction. Getting to work somewhere so woven into Kiwi life is a real privilege.
