Inside a 65 square metre home where space and light are in abundance

An Auckland couple built a 65sqm minor dwelling in their Mt Eden backyard, designed by Pat de Pont of Strachan Group Architects. Taking advantage of the Auckland Unitary Plan, the home cleverly maximises its small footprint with abundant space and light.

Smart design features include a folded roof for volume, suspended bay windows with built-in furniture, and a flexible second bedroom. The couple originally planned to rent it out but loved it so much they moved in, embracing a simpler, downsized lifestyle.
