Historically the airport has always been a major skydiving facility, and in the past this has scared off some pilots unfamiliar with parachute ops. However, in recent years this has become a non-event. Due to the combined efforts of the Airport Safety Committee and the skydive operator moving parachute landing areas well clear of the runway – skydiving is able to peacefully integrate with regular air traffic, easily maintaining separation without restricting aircraft movements.
