28ft (9mtr) Ted Brewer Canoe Stern Launch
Description
Lovely little Canoe Stern 28ft Wooden/Glass Launch
"ZOET" is a 9 mtr Ted Brewer (USA) design. Blue Hill, designed for bars/rough water. Built in early 1980s by the UNITECH Boatbuilding school in Auckland.
Powered by Nissan SD22 inboard diesel. Solid, reliable and easy to repair/get parts. V Drive shaft to prop.
Shallow draft at approx 700mm. Been great for harbour, shallow bays, fishing.
Good sized cockpit for fishing or relaxing/dining. Swim platform and ladder through the stern. (Photos dont show but there is a stern infill panel)
Sleeps 2 in forward cabin. Head. Galley and dinette on deck level with plenty of light and visibility when sitting in those lovely bays.
Needs a few maintenance jobs completed hence very realistic price.
Includes 2.4 Southern Pacific Inflatable and 2 hp Yamaha outboard
Price includes the mooring in Parua Bay, Whangarei Harbour.
Mooring is valued at $6000 with a recent service cost of over $2000. This is in a prime position being only about 50 metres from the pontoon/jetty and the closest mooring in Parua bay. It is rated for 12 mtrs but currently only has a 2 ton block so would need a 4 ton upgrade for 12 mtr, but OK for 9 mtrs.
My preference is to sell the boat and mooring together hence the reduced price for the package deal but I will consider seperate offers for boat & mooring seperately.
Questions & Answers
Hi, great looking boat. What is the crushing speed? And hours on the diesel? andrewc8 (97 • 8:47 pm, Wed, 4 Mar )Hi… yes she is. Cruising 5-6 knots. I’m not sure on the engine hours, I was told when I purchased that it had about 400 hrs since a recond but no receipts viewed. I’ve done very few hours, had it a couple of years but not had the time to use it. craker23 (70 • Wednesday, 4 March 2026 )Hi Do you have a rough list of the maintenance jobs you mentioned please? Thanks newchance2014 (39 • 9:29 pm, Wed, 4 Mar )The main job needed is cabin window resealing…the rest is just the usual boat maintenance jobs. I am hauling out for waterblaster/antifoul in couple weeks. Has prop speed already. And I’ll likely replace the flexible solar panel as clear covering lifting. craker23 (70 • Wednesday, 4 March 2026 )With regards my comment on cruising speed…. My comment was made regarding my use… I only ever cruise about 1800 rpm about 6 knots. I’m sure the boat speed should easily be 7-8 knots. In checking Ted Brewer website for Blue Hill launch… states boat speed up to 20 knots as was designed for bar crossings etc, but clearly the Nissan SD22, shaft/V drive wouldn’t achieve this. Seller comment Thursday, 5 March 2026 Im unfortunately unable to schedule any viewings until Monday 16th March Seller comment Thursday, 5 March 2026 Do you a photo of the galley , dinette area.. is the galley opposite the helm station. A simple drawing would help if no photo.. many thanks, nice little boat. smilie07 (21 • 8:26 pm, Thu, 5 Mar )Sorry I’m away on holiday at mo, but will get more photos on my return. Helm on starboard side with seat, galley behind on starboard. 4 person dinette on port side. Down 1 step to forward cabin with V berth, charitable on port side and head on starboard craker23 (70 • Thursday, 5 March 2026 )There is a sliding door accessing deck/bow from helm station. Gives good visibility and ventilation Seller comment Thursday, 5 March 2026
