Near Immaculate H28
Description
Haurere (‘Drifting Winds') is a 1978 H28. She was on the hard 2016-18 & extensively rebuilt including a completely new interior fit out
We bought her in 2020 & have enjoyed 5 years of cruising the Marlborough Sounds, D'urville, Pelorus & Tasman. She has previously ventured as far afield as Australia, Tonga & Fiji
Unfortunately our circumstances have changed and we are no longer using her, so it’s time to let a new owner enjoy her as much as we have. She’s safe, solid, reliable & a pleasure to sail
Haurere is a wooden Herreshoff 28 with a triple skin, marine treated Tanekaha fibreglassed over hull. She has a 24 hp Bukh diesel engine with a three blade fixed prop. She cruises at around 5.5 kts & sails at around 6.5 kts
The sail locker includes the main with two reef points, a yankee cut jib, No 2 jib & an unused new staysail. The inner forestay is easily removable with a Highfield lever & the sail is hank on. The headsails are on a furler. Apart from the new stay sail, the sails are older but still perfectly functional
The electronics include a new B&G V7 chart plotter integrated with the Garmin Cortex V1 VHF/AIS transceiver. The new Raymarine EV1 tiller autopilot is over-specked for an H28
The anchor system includes 60m of chain to a 10kg Rocna anchor. The Lofrans deck mounted winch has 2 foot buttons
There is a stereo with external speakers, 12v chest refrigerator, twin gas hobs. The galley sink has a freshwater pump. The head includes a Jabsco compact manual toilet, 20l holding tank & a fresh water manual pump hand basin. 85l fuel tank, 120l water tank. A 2kw Webasto diesel heater is a very welcome feature for winter overnighters. Two single berths are in the main cabin. New wiring with LED lights in 2018. Two life jackets, fire extinguisher etc
New lifelines were installed in May 2025. She is due a haul out for anti-fouling
Haurere comes with a safe, secure & fully powered berth in the Waikawa Marina. Ownership transferable if required
