Moody 30 in Greece
Description
Moody 30- in Greece! Ever dreamed of cruising around the Greek islands? Built in 1978 in the UK by Marine Projects with solid fibreglass construction and in good condition. We are the second Kiwi owners and have owned “Kotuku” since 2018. She is currently located near the Sporades Islands in a boatyard on stands. The yard can do any work required or you can do work yourself. We pay about $2000nz for storage and launch/ retrieve and use the boat for 2-4 months most years. Other costs have been $50nz per month cruising fee and we use 50 to 100 litres of fuel every season. We have recently replaced the rigging, batteries, alternator and anchor chain. Engine is a 3 cylinder Kubota which starts instantly and runs smoothly with no issues- raw water impeller is removed over winter. Sails are removed over winter and always covered when not in use so are in good condition. If we do not sell we will again use the boat and need to replace a manual water pump diagram and a solar panel controller ( about $130 here in NZ ). We will probably anti foul as this has not been needed since we bought it as it is mostly out of the water. There is a 4 hour bus service from Athens that drops you off about 100 meters from the boatyard- very convenient. About 2 days should be allowed to get the boat ready to launch for your first time- Bimini and dodger on , solar panels on, sails on, water fill, batteries connected, provisioning, raw water impeller installed, bilge drain fitting installed etc etc and all the usual checks done. Phone Ran for further information 0226783451. Asking $20,000 NZD.
Questions & Answers
Can email more information and photos- just ask. Seller comment Monday, 15 December 2025 Hi, Could be interested, Can you tell me more about the intracacies of sailing around the greek islands - the difficulties the pros and cons and some experiences you have had - we are looking at going there June 26 mlnathan (59 • 11:55 am, Fri, 19 Dec )e have only sailed around the Sporades islands- mainly because the winds are light and it’s not as crowded as other areas ( my wife is a light weather sailor and is happy to motor). It costs around €1000 to keep the boat in a boatyard for 9 months including launch and retrieve. ran11 (281 • Friday, 19 December 2025 )Continuing- Once you have collected the cruising log and paid for your cruising permit ( €25/ month ) you visit the port police station at the largest town on each main island for a no cost stamp in your log- for us that’s 3-4 times over 3 months -always while shopping for food. You can stern moor at any port or taverna- otherwise anchoring is free- which is what we mostly do. We swim, snorkel, read and eat, and often walk up to the small villages above the ports to eat or for coffee. Seller comment Friday, 19 December 2025 Hi, how does the ownership transfer work?, registration, flag etc .? mancuza (544 • 3:04 am, Sat, 10 Jan )We bought the yacht from New Zealanders and paid them here. They notified the boatyard and provided us with a email saying they had sold the yacht to us, we took this to the local customs office and they added our name to the cruising log which they give to us while we are cruising and we hand it back when we leave. The buyer will need to register the yacht in NZ and fly a nz flag. Cheers Ran. ran11 (281 • Saturday, 10 January 2026 )Hello there, is she equipped with a waste holding tank? Has this ever been an issue in the Med? (if not fitted). Cheers. norisk1 (56 • 10:41 am, Sat, 10 Jan )Yes- it has a waste tank that we empty well offshore- there are no pump out facilities in the Sporades. Cheers Ran. ran11 (281 • Saturday, 10 January 2026 )Hi there sounds very exciting, can you say overnight on the boat in the marina? matt331 (125 • 5:42 pm, Tue, 13 Jan )Hi, we keep the yacht in a boatyard, ie- on stands on dry land- and yes you can live aboard- yard has toilet and shower and washing machines. All places we visit and tie up to the harbour side or floating dock we live aboard. Hope this helps. Ran. C ran11 (281 • Tuesday, 13 January 2026 )Hello, for cruising do you need a sailing qualification or insurance in Greece? wharfbanger (58 • 7:55 pm, Mon, 19 Jan )I have a NZ coast guard boat master certificate- I think it was a course on one weekend, that the Greek coast guard is happy with. Yes, third party insurance- we buy from Pantaenius in Australia ( $850 pa)- is necessary to show to Customs when picking up the cruising log from them. They keep the log when the boat is on the hard. We will provide all the necessary information for cruising in Greece to the buyer. Cheers Ran ran11 (281 • Monday, 19 January 2026 )Safe to assume that is vessel has EU ‘Tax Paid’ status and can be stored/moored in the EU indefinitely? norisk1 (56 • 4:52 pm, Thu, 22 Jan )The yacht has always been in the EU. I have never been asked by the Customs Service in Greece about vat- we visit the Customs Office twice every year we are there to pick up and return our Cruising Log so I am sure that they would have asked if they needed to. I understand that the boat can remain there- we have never been told otherwise and it is good for their businesses and their economy if it stays there. cheers. ran11 (281 • Thursday, 22 January 2026 )Safe to assume that this vessel has EU ‘Tax Paid’ status and can be stored/moored in the EU indefinitely? norisk1 (56 • 4:52 pm, Thu, 22 Jan )See above. ran11 (281 • Thursday, 22 January 2026 )Do you have any interest in my caravan?
