Description
PRICE DROP - now 130.000 NZD
A solid 45 ft performance cruiser designed by Germán Frers and built by Bénéteau in 1983. She is a well-constructed and proven blue-water yacht, having completed an Atlantic crossing in 2023 and a Pacific crossing in 2025. This yacht is very well cared for and has a long list of upgrades, including a Volvo Penta D2-55 engine in 2006, new standing rigging and mainsail in 2023, a MAB high-output watermaker (2023), 870 Watt of solar, a Victron Multiplus inverter/charger, and much more.
Apollon is ready to set sail for Fiji, Tonga, or wherever you wish to go, being fully equipped for offshore passages and cruising in remote islands. The Bénéteau Firsts of this age were built with solid, hand-laid fiberglass hulls and are known for their strength and generous laminate. With a high-aspect encapsulated fin keel, Apollon can truly stretch her legs offshore while remaining highly capable around the buoys. She has recently been hauled out and prepared for the coming season, including a complete bottom job with new barrier coat and antifouling, as well as a full rudder rebuild.
In many ways, Apollon is a straightforward cruising yacht that appeals to sailors who appreciate traditional sail handling and the reliability of well-proven systems. While she offers eight berths for larger crews, she is equally comfortable and easily managed shorthanded. Having sailed her double-handed from French Polynesia to New Zealand in 2025, as well as with up to eight people aboard for extended periods, we can say that Apollon has proven comfortable in both set-ups. Also, the three cabin layout makes her very suitable for a cruising family.
Currently located in Marsden Cove Marina, Whangarei, New Zealand.
