Features and Design

Versatility: The MacGregor 26M is a hybrid designed to be both a functional sailboat and a fast powerboat. When the water ballast is drained and the daggerboard and rudders are retracted, it can plane under power, reaching speeds of around 19-22 knots with a 50hp outboard.

Trailerable: The water ballast system allows the boat to be light enough to be trailered by a standard vehicle and easily launched at a common boat ramp, avoiding expensive marina fees.

Interior Space: The high freeboard design provides surprisingly spacious accommodations for a 26-foot boat, featuring six feet of headroom and amenities comparable to larger powerboats. The cabin includes a fully enclosed head and a sliding galley.

Sailing Improvements: Compared to its predecessor (the 26X), the 26M features a 7/8 fractional rig with a rotating mast and twin rudders, which some owners say improves sailing performance, particularly upwind.

I have owned this boat for approx 3 years and it is in great condition. I am no longer able to use it due to an injury and would love to see it go to a good home. In great condition for its age and the interior is especially good. Also has the MacGregor mast raising system which makes taking the mast up and down a lot easier.
