Questions & Answers
Does it start? How long since it was last run? Thanks bristol6 (243 • 2:26 pm, Sat, 6 Dec )Hi - there's no reason it shouldn't start - the batteries are long dead, and any diesel left in the tank is no doubt unusable. I don't know whether the wiring is still OK, or might have been nibbled on by rats? It hasn't been started in about 10 years. tom.howard (15 • Saturday, 6 December 2025 )I would need to travel a long way to see this but Im interested. Can you tell me how many forward gears it has, please. Any chance of a photo or two of the engine bay? Do the tyres hold air? Many Thanks. Greg bristol6 (243 • 4:40 pm, Mon, 12 Jan )Hi - I've added some photos to the gallery showing the engine bay and one of the rear wheels - it's looks like it's about half inflated - so yes, they hold air. I can't tell how many forward gears there are from looking at the gear lever. Before you consider coming all this way to look at it - it's quite likely that you would need to arrange a tracked vehicle to drag it out and up the driveway - just so there ain't no surprises ;-) Tom. tom.howard (15 • Monday, 12 January 2026 )Hi Tom I guess it would be something of an impossible question to know if the brakes worked and cooling system is 'OK' . If I took it on, I would have to get it mobile and drive it as having it transported by truck would be prohibitively expensive. Needs to go to Taumarunui. (I am mechanically savvy by the way) bristol6 (243 • 3:31 pm, Tue, 13 Jan )Hi Greg, impossible to say whether or not the brakes work or the cooling system is still OK without starting it. Remember that it's been sitting idle for over 20 years. The batteries are long-dead. Tom. tom.howard (15 • Tuesday, 13 January 2026 )
