Tiny Home or Doer Up Project
Description
Tiny Home or Doer Up Project
This well loved 1973 Bedford Bus will be hard to say goodbye to, but it’s time for new adventures.
Affectionately called ‘Bus’ because my child was only 1 when we moved in and travelled the South Island for many years. Bus then became our holiday home, a sleep out, a saviour in the time of earthquakes and an air bnb. Sadly, now our lives cannot give Bus the lifestyle it deserves.
Unfortunately this big ole beauty no longer is road worthy. At least not within my realms of mechanical prowess (or lack!). If old school mechanics is your thing, then it wouldn’t take much to get her up and running again. The engine is fab, the tyres are great. But the radiator needs replacing, the brakes need work and the basic electrics (lights, etc) are all in need of some serious tlc.
Of course none of that matters if you’d like a really groovy tiny home. Bus is still water tight, with a pot belly stove, gas oven, fridge, heaps of sneaky storage and a super king sized bed! We never installed water and ablutions. And considering we lived in the bus full time for years it wasn’t that much of a hassle once you get a routine. Of course if you’re not going to be driving her around the country, then there’s plenty of room to put a shower-toilet in. In fact there are plenty of ways you could alter Bus to make her your own, but she’s totally liveable right now too.
So, if you could do with a sleep out, want a tiny home of your own and/or could really do with a classic mechanical project to bring your dream to life then look no further. Bus is ready to make your dreams and adventures come true.
