Bedford Val 1963
Description
For sale is my 1963 Bedford Val twin front steer. My living situation has rapidly changed and is an urgent sale so make an offer. I have owned and been living in this bus for over eight years and raised a young family in it.. Had COF when purchased and drove down from Lake Taupo to Nelson and thats about it. Rego on hold. Stripped down internally in Tasman to bare frame as was 1970's style house bus. Poly insulated everywhere I could and lined with tounge & groove poplar with macrocarpa in bathroom. All aluminum frame and body so no rust. Chassis is solid. Has cute fireplace. Is really set up at the moment to stay in one place, connected to mains although has a small solar panel that used to run water pump, stereo etc. Water also hooked up to mains. Has proper flushing toilet hooked up to grey water at the moment (pee only, had a composting toilet outside) but could easily hook up to sewer. Has 200ltr grey water tank mostly disconnected except for bathroom basin, kitchen sink can be reattached. Heaps of storage. Can sleep a couple and child comfortably and couch set up for guest if needed. Bedroom under main bed originally suitcase storage. 7ltr Leyland straight six. Drove mint although a bit slow up steep hills. The not so good-small leaks come and go in very heavy rain so I try to keep it covered. Gas oven and fridge coming with me. Working on seeing if it will run with friends batteries so may need to be towed, this will be reflected in price. No hot water, have always just boiled the jug. No shower but has space for one. Has large header tank in shower space I use occasionally as a bath, otherwise just showered at the gym. Limited lighting as I've used Makita battery lighting. Currently has no batteries as they had died last time I went to start the bus. Working on getting the bus moving as it needs to be off of the property as soon as possible.
It is not perfect but quite livable if you dont mind a few inconveniences, thats bus life!
Questions & Answers
Hi, I have a place in Hokitika do you think it would make it there ? Or do you think towing it would be better. kirky- (105 • 10:01 pm, Mon, 27 Apr )Good morning, if I can get it going it probably would, just quite a risk without a COF. I would recommend towing to be stress free honeyhills (48 • Monday, 27 April 2026 )
