Triumph TR5, TR6, PI, 2000 or 2500 Electronic fuel injection set up
Description
Triumph lucas mechanical fuel injection converted to electronic. This was running on my TR5 but I swapped it back to original for the new owner/custodian. It is running an early LINK computer with a hand held tuner device. I did convert this to run a megasquirt computer but have since used that in another project. The throttle bodies are the original Lucas parts with the butterflies removed and the injector ports bored out to fit electronic. The electronic throttle body is fitted to the front of the air inlet manifold. The original metering unit has the rotor and internal parts removed and the ends welded shut to make it into a fuel rail using the original fuel lines etc. This set up worked fine on the TR5 but will obviously need retuning to whatever it is fitted to. Although everything worked fine 20 years ago when it came off the car it will certainly need retuning and recalibrating. As far as I know everything is there to get up and running except for a fuel pump, you can use the original PI pump or a modern after market electronic fuel pump which runs at about 50 PSI. When this is all installed it doesn't look that much different to the original Lucas set up.
Questions & Answers
Hi there, Do you still have the individual throttle body butterflies and would they reinstall, or was there irreversible modifications made? What injectors are fitted? Cheers, aj-customs (338 • 2:13 pm, Fri, 21 Nov )I would have to search through my bits and pieces to see if I still have the butterflies. they could be reinstalled I should think. The injectors are ex Nissan skyline 6 cylinder. I will check this afternoon to see if I can find the butterflies and shafts. I think it would be a real bitch to tune with individual throttles!! garruth (189 • Friday, 21 November 2025 )I do have the original shafts and butterflies if required Seller comment Friday, 21 November 2025 Awesome good to know. ECU technology has come a long way in the last while. Tuning with individual throttle bodies is no trouble these days. I’ll keep this in mind. Might go with GSXR throttle bodies instead. But this is a perfect bolt on solution so i like it a lot. Would you sell it without the ECU? aj-customs (338 • 8:17 pm, Fri, 21 Nov )The ECU is probably incidental really, it is no use to me so I would like to sell it as a package garruth (189 • Friday, 21 November 2025 )
