2012 Alfa Romeo 159 Ti
Background check
Description
This is a near pristine example of one of the most beautiful production cars ever made. It is the TI model so it has the bigger wheels, better trim elements, enhanced performance, and superior suspension to the standard models.
In November last year I replaced the fuel filter, air filter, oil and oil filter, timing belt, belt tensioner and idler, and the water pump, did the actual timing as well (which most mechanics fail to do with a cambelt change) and I also disabled the swirl flaps.
I used original supplier parts; Magneti Marelli fuel filter, and water pump. Alfa Romeo air filter. Dayco cam-belt kit.
Oil filter is Magneti Marelli
This has Penrite full synthetic HPR 5, 5W-40 oil, which complies with the ACEA A2/A3 specification for the 2.4 JTDm engine as called for by Alfa Romeo.
The 2.4L 5 cylinder Diesel motor is a 147KW / 200HP unit with a reputation for a very long life - with proper regular oil changes these motors have frequently seen 500,000kms.
Questions & Answers
Hi, nice car. Do you do repairs on Alfas also? karmic69 (40 • 3:01 pm, Thu, 29 Jan )Best to ring me. griffincars (29 • Thursday, 29 January 2026 )Lovely car, I hope it goes to a good home. Or better still, that you’re forced to keep it! I have the wagon version of your car- same colour, engine, TI spec, etc. I’ve been thinking of the swirl flap delete because of what I’ve read online. Any comments you may have based on your experience would be very much appreciated. Cheers p90 (486 • 7:02 pm, Wed, 4 Feb )I am more than happy to keep it, its like wearing a nice suit. But it is just that little bit small for me to get into, once in I am alright. Lol, its not just me being tubby, its my length and width and age. I fit easily into the Saab 9.5 I have. Flaps ! I have disconnected mine, and now the car starts easier, and seems to sing better, its a simple thing to do, as long as you ensure they are fully open before doing so, and you make sure they are fixed open. Come visit, we'll do yours. griffincars (29 • Wednesday, 4 February 2026 )If I do keep it, one day soon I will do the dirty work and take the inlet manifold off and remove them totally, and remove the exhaust gas reticulation system.
