Description
1979 Alfa Romeo Spider 1750 – Road-Legal Track Car
There are cars you drive, and then there are cars you experience. This 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider 1750 is firmly in the second category, with the added bonus of being set up as a road-legal track car for drivers who enjoy something a little more focused.
Styled by Pininfarina, the Spider is one of the most iconic open-top sports cars ever produced. With its long bonnet, elegant lines and unmistakable Italian character, it looks just as good parked up as it does being driven with purpose.
Power comes from the legendary 1750cc Alfa Romeo twin-cam engine, renowned for its free-revving nature and unmistakable soundtrack. Paired with a manual gearbox, it delivers a raw, mechanical driving experience that modern cars simply can’t replicate.
This example has been thoughtfully configured as a road-legal track car, offering sharper responses and a more engaging feel while remaining fully usable on public roads. It’s equally at home on a winding back road, at a track day, or out for a spirited weekend drive with the roof down.
This is proper analogue motoring — no driver aids, no screens, just steering feel, throttle response and driver involvement. A car that rewards commitment and makes every drive feel like an occasion.
As a 1979 model, it represents a desirable era of Alfa Romeo ownership, blending classic charm with improved usability. Alfa Romeo Spiders are becoming increasingly collectible worldwide, especially examples that are set up to be driven and enjoyed.
If you’re looking for a classic Italian sports car with real character, heritage and involvement, this Spider 1750 is well worth your consideration.
P plate is not included. It’s part of a private collection

Donor car speedo showed 48K engine came out (148K?) . Suspension can take more power, all new parts when built, Harvey Bailey handling kit, GTA style spring pans, completely rebuilt steering box and all new tie rod ends. Roof fixings points in place so potential to fit roof with donor frame sans roll cage. Great fun on a sunny day. tazio (78 • 7:56 pm, Sat, 7 Feb )Thanks so much for clearing that up! Massive help!
