Description

BLMC Leyland Classic Mini Mk3 1979 (!) Just recently finished getting it back on the road, full motor and clutch rebuild. Grab yourself an old school classic. I've done around 15km in it to run it in. Rego on hold. I've gone as far as I can on the resto and now I'll pass it over to a new owner, serious offers welcome.

Feel free to contact me to arrange a time to view etc Nth Hamilton

Specifications:

  • Rebuilt 998cc Motor, c/w receipts (20thou over). Total 15km run in
  • 1.5" carby
  • 'New' clutch pack
  • 'New' water pump
  • New front brakes + bushes
  • British motor racing green, white/silver roof (underlying purple?)
  • New 12x6.5" deep dish alloys + new tyres ($1,000)
  • Original VG condition mini seats installed (I'm 6.3" and fit comfortably). Possible spares.
  • Original mint low back leather mini front seats incl.
  • recon (?) Brake booster
  • New front brake lines + shoes
  • New red carpet all round
  • Sports Steering Wheel + original "bus" wheel
  • Frt + Rear Seat belts
  • Spare 4x 10" biscuit wheels + hubcaps (for WoF)
  • Brand new battery 2025
  • Chrome washers squirters
  • Electrics work; horn, wipers, lights, indicators, fan unit (not much else is there?!)
  • Chrome racing pedals + Chrome gear knob
  • spares galore with purchase (flare arches, glass, carpet)
  • New plywood parcel shelves
  • UK flag pillows and acc's
  • New front panel and new spray paint to match by panel beater + rust removal
  • Sills checked and filled up with antirust gunk by panelbeater
  • New batter positive feed from boot.
  • New quick connect lights and indicators on front (sparky)
  • carpet removed, all rust and new paint on floor (before new carpet installed)

Whilst I've lavished money on the mechanics, there is still a small project for someone;

  • The paint is average, yet to clay bar and polish it - might resolve it?
  • Rust bubbles/paint imperfections
  • Air vents need surrounds installed (incl.)
  • Dash has crack in crashpad
  • Cigarette lighter / USB charger to be installed (quoted $50)

Email Q's, No swaps. No trades. Questions + offers welcome.

  • Have you got the front flares? cruise31 (344) • 12:20 pm, Sat, 22 Nov Yep! (Front and rear). Just installed them (newly painted). Not the best screws, but easy replacement. Ive also got a spare set of flares too somewhere.....I think the same profile. I'll try to get it out in the sunlight and take some more photos....bear with me....lots happening at home that I have to work around. Best wishes. excalaber (2207) • Saturday, 22 November 2025
  • Cheers mate , no worries at all no rush my end cruise31 (344) • 2:40 pm, Sat, 22 Nov really!? should be 1979.....let me edit the error. Thanks for asking/pointing it out. excalaber (2207) • Saturday, 22 November 2025
  • Certed for servo and 12" wheels, Panelbeater papers for rust / panel repairs ? Cheers. classic57 (737) • 1:00 pm, Thu, 27 Nov Servo? No cert for 12" wheels - wof was done 2021 when it was rebuilt/put back on road when this was allowed. Just found out this is no longer allowed. But! As per description - 10" originals are with the sale and wof legislation. Panel beating was outsourced to a company, etc no paperwork (if I did, not sure where to find it).... Trust this helps. excalaber (2207) • Thursday, 27 November 2025
  • Is it 1973 or 1979 - both are mentioned anthonyrd (72) • 12:57 pm, Mon, 1 Dec really!? should be 1979.....let me edit the error. Thanks for asking/pointing it out. excalaber (2207) • Monday, 1 December 2025
  • Gidday how long has the redgo been on holx? deano74 (123) • 7:32 am, Tue, 30 Dec Yes, the rego is happily on hold. And it's done bugger all k's since the first wof since it's been back on the road (b4 I started on carpets and flashing it up). Trust that helps. excalaber (2207) • Tuesday, 30 December 2025

  • Hi so is it all road worthy nissancoupe (19) • 6:19 pm, Fri, 16 Jan . excalaber (2207) • Friday, 16 January 2026
  • Sorry just read it why is the rego on hold or is that the only thing holding it back to be put on the road if it requires things to be done could you let me know cheers nissancoupe (19) • 6:23 pm, Fri, 16 Jan its on hold because essentially I got it mechanical and body work complete and sprayed for the first WoF, then took it off the road to work on the interior slowly. Depending on how OCD you are, there's either 'not alot to do'' (raw) or ''wow I'm going to get inspired and chrome and accessorize everything" lol. I havent gone thru a WoF process again (I tried pre-xmas, but they coudn't get to it). Best to come have a look and assess for yourself. Thanks. excalaber (2207) • Friday, 16 January 2026
  • Were are the rust bubbles situated nissancoupe (19) • 7:14 pm, Fri, 16 Jan I'll see if I can get some close ups uploaded....unfortunately it was rust free, but the "it'll only take 4 weeks" mechanic actually took 8 months of dicking around and left it outside uncovered - which wasn't the arrangement. Soooo, like most older cars, an ounce of moisture and suddenly they try to spring to life! But whole new front end (aftermarket panel, stitched in and painted by panel beater). And I got him to flush all the openings and sills with anti rust gunk. excalaber (2207) • Friday, 16 January 2026
  • It's that I'm down in the Hawkes Bay Napier I do know someone in Hamilton that might be able to have a look for me not sure how mechanically minded he is I will find out nissancoupe (19) • 7:21 pm, Fri, 16 Jan Ok brilliant, currently I'm WFH so am reasonable flexible. It is a project of sorts - but I've tried to do most of the grunt work (thru professionals) to break the back of it. excalaber (2207) • Friday, 16 January 2026
  • So the car is based in Hamilton nissancoupe (19) • 8:01 pm, Fri, 16 Jan Correct. I live outside town boundary, but we're only talking 1min. North Hamilton (te awa shopping complex area). Thanks excalaber (2207) • Friday, 16 January 2026
  • How's the gearbox condition nissancoupe (19) • 1:36 pm, Sat, 17 Jan Manual. Tight and working without hesitation etc. New oil (obviously as it shares the engine oil). excalaber (2207) • Saturday, 17 January 2026
