1979 Austin Mini
Background check
Description
Selling my 1979 Austin Mini, a classic original shape Mini with plenty of character. It has the 1160cc engine, with twin carbs and a cam. The last 3 owners have spent considerable money on this car and I have most of the history including the original ownership papers and sales documents. Go back 3 owners and they did a full strip , repaint, recondition and bore to 1160cc, mag wheels, twin fuel tanks etc. Then the next owner whom I purchased from in Timaru, has done brakes and all manner of work. I then purchased it in feb 2025, driving it back up to Auckland no dramas. I have fitted a new steering rack, exhaust, water pump, new battery, new heater core, new rubber suspension plus fitting hi lo adjustables , high performance brake linings and had the car fully certified and LVVTA compliant so Wof `s are straight forward. Brand new retractable seat belts are fitted. Even the hood lining is mint.I have also spent considerable effort removing any squeaks! so that you can cruise with the 4 speaker stereo playing your tunes. As said, I have most of the receipts filed , the combined money spent is more than the asking price. In short, the car has been Cooperized but it’s not a Cooper. So why am I selling....well my 77 year old body just struggles bending down into the car. It's a delight to drive and never fails to put a smile on everyone's face. Its fun to drive and sounds the part. The car is fully sorted and being fully certified, you will not have any warrant issues at VTNZ. It really drives very smooth and compliant due to the new suspension And yes it's rust free, always garaged. Happy to answer any questions.
If you're after a classic that's practical enough for weekend drives and shows, this could be a good fit.
Happy to answer any questions or arrange a viewing with the car now located in Glendowie. Email russell.keach@outlook.com
